Micropatrons
Micropatronage is a way for you to support individuals who work in areas that you are passionate about. Building on the idea of patronage, the web enables people to attract micro amounts of support from a greater number of participants – resulting in a more flexible approach to making things happen through a more diversified and resilient source of revenue.
As a micropatron you can develop a portfolio of people that you support unrestricted by area of interest or geographic boundaries. Results are reported primarily through ongoing blog posts and social media updates, where you have very intimate and transparent access to the projects you are supporting, while also allowing everyone in the world to openly learn from the experiences.
I explore what’s on the horizon for humans – in the way we work, in the way our cities operate and in the impact we have on this planet. I look for the themes of what is happening on the edges of society (“The future is already here, it’s just not evenly distributed yet” William Gibson) and bring these ideas to the people who are making them happen. This takes many forms – from writing blog posts here to working on a range of projects, mentoring individuals and running events like The Hive.
If you would like to support me and become a micropatron there are two set-value buttons below, and you can contact me (ross@rosshill.com.au) if you would like to fund another amount.
