Ever since the internet began, people have been addicted to checking their web statistics to see how popular their site is - but just as the web has moved from static to realtime, so has web statistics.
Take CoverHunt.com for example – I know that around 100,000 people looked at over 1,400,000 pages in the last month, but how do I figure out how many people are using the site right now?

I recently stumbled upon Chartbeat and I’m already addicted. You install a simple piece of code and in less than a minute you are watching a realtime dashboard of your traffic. How many people are using Coverhunt right now? 63 people. A few moments later, 70. The map lights up with dots of where all these people are from, and there is a range of other charts to look at as well.

Web Analytics doesn’t get much better than watching a collection of visualisations that show you what is happening in realtime. Chartbeat only launched today at the Web2.0 Expo, but I can see their popularity going through the roof. $9.95/mo is a small price to pay for eye candy like this!
The best bit? I can share my dashboard with you – take a look at the realtime stats for coverhunt.com.
