Make your iPhone battery last longer

Like anything if you use it more it will take more energy. That’s the only ‘battery issue’ with any of the Apple stuff – it keeps coming up.. iPods, iPhones.. we use them too much.

If you really want to save power:
* Turn down the brightness.
* Set push notifications to manual.
* Turn off Bluetooth (I have never used this anyway)
* Turn off wifi (when not at home).
* Turn off location/gps.
* Turn off 3G.

Basically turn off the screen and turn off all the bloody radios. That has a huge impact on battery life.

Just make it have the same features as any ‘crap phone’ and it will last forever.

    This technique definitely works but you have to go all over the settings UI to find each individual button. Surely someone can write an app that puts these all in one place?
  • @Lucio of course it's not! That's why we all whinge about the battery running out!

    Is that still an Iphone?
  • I leave wi-fi on 95% of the time as I have wi-fi at work and home. However the biggest battery drain for me is definitely GPS. I have a car charger and will only use the GPS when plugged in, otherwise it's good bye battery in no time!
  • I charge every night, more out of habit than necessity. I do leave the GPS and 3g and wifi most of the time though.

    A good list Ross, you could probably add:
    'Play fewer games' to the list too, but that's no fun!

    The work & home docks are good tips too.

    Pre-iPhone most peoplel told me I'd be charging every night.
    Depending on how many calls I'm making, I can get 3 days on 1 charge.
    How's your run life?
  • Thanks for the tips!
  • Good tip Dean!

    I have wifi on when I'm at home or work, and I use around 100-200mb per month of 500mb.
  • I keep wifi off... vodafone gives me 250mb per month... have had mine for ~ 4 months, and only used 120ish mb

    Another tip, get a dock for home and a dock for work.

    I have an Energizer AP1500 and it gives me double the battery life of the iphone. They are avaiable from Mr Mobile in NSW
