Less is more with EcoFont

SPRANQ have taken the less is more idea and applied it to fonts.

How much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability?

The EcoFont reduces ink use by 20% and is available for free download

The idea was wildly popular in media around the world, and while this is a nice little incremental improvement innovation what I’m wondering is why we are still printing anything at all?

  • Gotta love this blog and its comments
  • Haha so you can leave us hanging, or you can share what the "really interesting" bits are!

That's not a bad idea, but the viruses that are most rife here are the ones that automatically copy themselves to and from new usb devices. Even my SD card from my camera has been riddled with viruses. I guess the trick would be to install something on the usb backup drive that prevents any new viruses coming onto it? Just in the process of doing an organisation wide technology review with firstly Pat, now Steve and Cam as technical consultants! It's been really interesting to hear about what people think will help them and what their major grievances are.
  • Poor trees as backup! Oh dear. Why don't you backup to USB sticks? If it is only a backup drive you should have no trouble with viruses.

Seems like you have a good point there Ross, however at my work the most reliable way to back things up is hard copy! The computers are dusty and antiquated, have virtually no virus protection and are regularly victim to USB spread viruses. No online connectivity means we can't do online backups either.

Having said that, I realise I am a bit of a special case....
