Do is the action behind your beliefs

I’m sure you have had conversations with people then afterwards had a sudden rush to do things. The Do lectures are about getting a handful of speakers together in one place in the hope that they may inspire you to go Do something, with the tools and desire to change the things you care about.

People who Do things inspire us to go and Do things too.

The event started from a conversation between David and Clare Hieatt over the dining table one night. They wanted to know what to Do about the things they cared about. Out of that came the idea that the Doers of the world can inspire the rest of us to go Do something. The first session was held in Wales with 60 attendees and 22 speakers talking about their projects.

I found Tim Ferriss’ How and Why to Be Unreasonable talk particularly good.

Are you Doing?

  • When i get a hit of inspiration i can Do very well. However sometimes it can be that hit of inspiration that is elusive. I am guessing that is kind of what this is about though.
  • Your best post yet. Everything important achieved is through doing. Simply because until we 'do', we cannot verify whether it or anything is actually possible. From the errant executions new ideas 'to do' also arrive.

    Great stuff.
    Steve.
  • If you want the iTunes podcast feed of all the videos go to http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/...
  • I think that is a great observation about the differences. TED is definitely "Ideas Worth Spreading" but Do leaves you inspired on a practical level.

So when will we see "Get together and share what you find amazing"? :)
  • I like to think that I am doing :) The Do Lectures are excellent, and whilst not quite up there with the folks from TED the talks are much more down to earth and inspiring. A session watching TED can leave you dumbfounded ("i'll never be that clever") whilst the Do Lectures leaves you inspired, amazed and impressed by the ability of the speakers to make it happen - a much more difficult and impressoive achievement.

I think Do-ing is a complex agreement between your time, your inspiration and the other 'things' going on in life. I find my most productive times are when those three things are in perfect alignment.
