A recent study by the University of NSW found the average Australian walks about 900 miles a year.

Another study by the Australian Medical Association found that Australians drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol a year. This means, on average, Australians get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes you proud to be an Australian…

RT @hgetson: If Australians walk 900 miles per yr, on avg, yet drink 22 gallons of alcohol. Then… http://tinyurl.com/9xpvql
If Australians walk 900 miles per yr, on avg, yet drink 22 gallons of alcohol. Does that mean they avg 41 mpg? http://tinyurl.com/9xpvql
@rosshill http://tinyurl.com/9xpvql Use that newer model well my young lad. I’m 42 and feel bloody 80!
Woah! That’s some serious beer efficiency!
If only you could walk 41 miles for every gallon you drink, but it seems you only get slower and slower and then eventually start taking one step forward and two steps back!
Mike I think you’re reading into it the wrong direction – especially for a man who sells beer!
Haha you see I don’t mind how far people have to walk home if they buy my beer, as long as everyone (me included) has a good time! :D
Pretty good. Almost on par with some of those American SUV’s!
Yes Ross – 41 miles to the gallon.
But there are frequent stops to expel excess water.
So whilst the efficiency is good, those miles can be very slow with all the stop/starting.
This stop/starting gets worse as the ‘vehicle’ gets older.
@Brendon I guess I should be glad I’ve got a fairly recent model then ;)
It goes beyond pride, into the area closer to patriotism.
